Roosbeek is a village in the municipality of Boutersem, in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. Roosbeek was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1970.De first spellings were Roscebeke and Rosebeke and could have originated from the Salian-Frankish form of "rietbeek". At the time of Roman rule, a large part of Roosbeek stretched out one large swamp. Around 840 it became the property of the Abbey of Cornelimunster and then, through the chapter of Saint-Lambert in Liège, it came largely into the hands of the Abbey of Villers.
