De home Pro Juventute Air et Soleil werd gebouwd in opdracht van baron Louis Empain. Na een incident op een boot, zonder nadelige gevolgen weliswaar, kent het leven van baron Empain een wending. De industrieel beslist om zijn levenswandel te wijzigen. Hij ziet af van zijn adellijke titel, gaat zijn winstgevende activiteiten tot een minimum beperken en richt de stichting Fondation Pro Juventute op. Deze caritatieve stichting had de verheffing en de ontwikkeling van de jeugd tot doel, zowel op het morele, intellectuele als fysieke vlak. Architect Antoine Courtens, die reeds verscheidene ontwerpen in opdracht van Louis Empain heeft vervuld, krijgt de opdracht om deze home te ontwerpen.
