Ostend Sailing es va fundar com a organització sense ànim de lucre l'any 1987 amb l'objectiu de promoure activament els esports aquàtics i les embarcacions d'esbarjo , més concretament la vela en catamarà .
Pot impartir formació per a això , organitzar competicions de vela i d'embarcacions a motor i realitzar tot tipus d'esdeveniments d'esports aquàtics. L'associació també pretén fomentar els contactes socials entre els seus membres.
El club té un recinte situat al far d'Ostende que serveix com a parc de vaixells i on també hi ha la sala club amb tots els allotjaments (bar, dutxa, traster...).
