Området består af klitter og måler 152 ha. Selvom området ikke er tilgængeligt på grund af dets sårbarhed, er der anlagt et netværk af vandrestier, og der er også sørget for legepladser. Området forvaltes af Natur- og Skovstyrelsen. Området er europæisk beskyttet som en del af Natura 2000-habitatdirektivområderne 'Klitområder inklusive IJzermonding og Zwin'.
