Her i Zirkstraat voksede den berømte sanger og musiker Willy Cecile Johannes (Wim) Van de Velde, bedre kendt som Wannes Van de Velde. Hans mest kendte nummer er "Ik Wil deze Nacht in de Straten Verdwalen" (1973). Hans far (Jaak Van de Velde) var metalbearbejder og begavet sanger, hans mor (Stéphanie De Wilde) en syngende skrædder og husmor. Forældrenes hus lå over en spansk butik Le comptoir de Valence, som eksisterede indtil 2016 under navnet El Valenciano.
