Hier in der Zirkstraße wuchs der berühmte Sänger und Musiker Willy Cecile Johannes (Wim) Van de Velde, besser bekannt als Wannes Van de Velde. Sein bekanntestes Lied ist "Ik Wil deze Nacht in de Straten Verdwalen" (1973). Sein Vater (Jaak Van de Velde) war Metallarbeiter und begabter Sänger, seine Mutter (Stéphanie De Wilde) eine singende Näherin und Hausfrau. Das Elternhaus befand sich über einem spanischen Laden Le comptoir de Valence, der bis 2016 unter dem Namen El Valenciano existierte.
