Aquí en la calle Zirkstraat creció el famoso cantante y músico Willy Cecile Johannes (Wim) Van de Velde, más conocido como Wannes Van de Velde. Su canción más famosa es "Ik Wil deze Nacht in de Straten Verdwalen" (1973). Su padre (Jaak Van de Velde) era un metalúrgico y un cantante dotado, su madre (Stéphanie De Wilde) una costurera cantante y ama de casa. La casa familiar estaba ubicada sobre una tienda española Le comptoir de Valence, que existió hasta 2016 bajo el nombre El Valenciano.
