Den underjordiske metrostation blev åbnet den 5. juli 1985 sammen med Houba-Brugmann og Heizel til forlængelse af metrolinje 1A fra Bockstael til Heizel. Siden revisionen af metronettet i 2009 betjenes denne station af metrolinje 6.
Stuyvenbergh ligger under krydset mellem Houba de Strooperlaan, Emile Bockstaellaan og De Smet De Naeyerlaan, i den nordvestlige del af byen. Den underjordiske metrostation er opkaldt efter Stuyvenberg Slot, som ligger øst for stationen i Lakenparken. Stuyvenberghstraat ligger et stykke mod nord for stationen.
