Det geografiske centrum for Flandern blev fastsat af studerende fra fakultetet for anvendt videnskab ved universitetet i Leuven. Gennem GPS-målinger og med hjælp fra matematiklæreren blev punktet efter omtrent 120 timers grundigt arbejde bestemt. Centrum ligger præcist i det yderste hjørne af Østflandern, få meter fra grænseområdet af Sint-Amands, men stadig i Opdorp, på landbrugsmarken hos landmand De Keyser. I 2003 blev der opstillet et monument på dette punkt. Centrum ligger også kun få meter fra det tidligere bestemte “tre-provinspunkt” (Østflandern, Antwerpen og Brabant) i Biesten.
