Il centro geografico delle Fiandre è stato determinato da studenti della facoltà di scienze applicate dell'università di Leuven. Attraverso misurazioni GPS e con l'aiuto del docente di matematica, dopo circa 120 ore di lavoro serio, è stato individuato il punto. Il centro si trova esattamente nell'estremo angolo della Fiandra Orientale, a pochi metri dal territorio di Sint-Amands, ma comunque a Opdorp, nel campo agricolo del contadino De Keyser. Nel 2003 è stato collocato un monumento in questo punto. Il centro si trova anche a solo poche decine di metri dal precedente "punto delle tre province" (Fiandra Orientale, Anversa e Brabante) nelle Biesten.
