Der geografische Mittelpunkt von Flandern wurde von Studenten der Fakultät für angewandte Wissenschaften der Universität Leuven bestimmt. Durch GPS-Messungen und mit Hilfe des Mathematiklehrers wurde nach etwa 120 Stunden intensiver Arbeit der Punkt bestimmt. Der Mittelpunkt liegt genau in der äußersten Ecke von Ostflandern, nur wenige Meter von dem Gebiet von Sint-Amands entfernt, aber dennoch in Opdorp, auf dem Ackerland von Bauer De Keyser. Im Jahr 2003 wurde an diesem Punkt ein Denkmal errichtet. Der Mittelpunkt liegt außerdem nur einige Dutzend Meter von dem zuvor bestimmten „Drei-Provinzen-Punkt“ (Ostflandern, Antwerpen und Brabant) in den Biesten entfernt.
