El punto geográfico del centro de Flandes fue determinado por estudiantes de la facultad de ciencias aplicadas de la universidad de Lovaina. A través de mediciones GPS y con la ayuda del profesor de matemáticas, después de aproximadamente 120 horas de trabajo serio, se determinó el punto. El centro se encuentra exactamente en el rincón más remoto de Flandes Oriental, a unos metros del territorio de Sint-Amands, pero aún así en Opdorp, en el campo agrícola del agricultor De Keyser. En 2003, se colocó un monumento en este punto. El centro también está a solo decenas de metros del “punto de tres provincias” (Flandes Oriental, Amberes y Brabante) anteriormente determinado en Biesten.
