Den 16. august 1925 blev Rheinische Städtebundtheater GmbH med sæde i Neuss grundlagt. Medlemmer i ejerforeningen var udover sædebyen Neuss kommunerne Buer, Kleve, Emmerich, Gladbeck, Kohlscheid, Stolberg samt kunstkommunen Lüdenscheid og Landkreis Solingen. I 1937 skete der en omdannelse til "Rheinisches Landestheater". I anledning af teatrets 30-års jubilæum lod byen bygningen i Drususallee opføre, som forblev fast spillested for scenen indtil 2000. I 1981 fusionerede Rheinisches Landestheater med Theater am Niederrhein Kleve, som det tidligere havde samarbejdet med. Den 16. december 2000 blev det nye spillested, i "Horten-Haus", åbnet på Oberstraße.
