Kapellet blev bygget mellem 1880 og 1881 af Felipe Sainz de Veranda, bygningsingeniør, på grunden af det gamle Kloster for de Hellige Martyrer, da strandpromenaden ved Ribera blev udvidet fra Molino de Martos til Campo Madre de Dios.
Inde kan man beundre en smuk paleokristen sarkofag i carrara-marmor, dateret til omkring 330 e.Kr. (konstantinsk periode), som befinder sig i samme kapel. To scener pryder forsiden af sarkofagen: hanens sang og helgenens anholdelse.
