Slottet i la Villette blev genopbygget i anden halvdel af det 16. århundrede efter de skader, som Karl V's hær forårsagede i 1552, og kardinal Mazarin boede der i 1651 under Fronde. Efter at have tilhørt hertugdømmet Rethel og derefter Marguerite de Belaux, blev slottet i 1767 ejet af Jean-Franis Maucomble, rådgiver og sekretær for kongen og herre over Glaire. Beliggende ved bredden af Maas blev dette renæssanceforsvarsslots gennem tiden omdannet til et château de plaisance med franske haver. Slottet i Villette og dets haver er optaget i den supplerende optegnelse over historiske monumenter.
