Durch den strategischen Grundstückskauf der Pioniere von Limburgs Landschap vzw im Jahr 1978 wurde die Begradigung des Bosbeek verhindert. Dadurch begann die landschaftliche Wiederherstellung und der hohe Naturwert des Gebiets blieb erhalten.
Insgesamt standen einst sechzehn Mühlen entlang des Bosbeek. Östlich von Tösch liegt die Wurfeldermühle. Die erste Mühle an diesem Ort stammt wohl aus vor 1437. Die Mühle diente als Walkmühle (zum Walken von Wolle), als Rindenmühle (zum Mahlen von Eichenrinde für Gerbsäure), als Papiermühle und als Kornmühle.
