Auf der Ostseite des Großen Marktes bewunderst du die spätgotische Treppengiebel des Klosters der Grauen Schwestern. Hier befand sich früher ein Patrizierhaus, daneben ein Renaissancehaus, das Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts zur Herberge Zum Goldenen Löwen umgebaut wurde. 1678 lebten die Grauen Schwestern bereits in Roeselare, nämlich im Haus 'Den Hert'. Sie kauften jedoch die Herberge 1683, um dort 2 Jahre später einzuziehen. In der noch immer authentisch erhaltenen Fassade befindet sich eine Statue der Jungfrau Maria.
