Geschichte
Im Jahr 1919 baute der Künstler Carl Garschagen aus dem deutschen Siegburg hier eine Villa. Er malte vorzugsweise die Natur und Wolkenhimmel und hat vermutlich den Namen gegeben. Nach ihm lebte die Freifrau Brantsen dort, stammend aus Rheden. 1931 wurde das Wolkenland mit der Villa vom Amsterdams Lyceum als Schulaußenhaus erworben. Zwölf Hektar Wald gingen an das Haus Bergh. Das Gebäude auf dem Hügel wurde 1932 durch Brand und 1944 durch Kriegseinwirkungen zerstört. In der schwierigen Zeit des Wiederaufbaus gelang es erneut Gunning, Genehmigungen und Mittel für den Bau des heutigen Wolkenland zu erhalten. Es wurde am 28. Juni 1952 offiziell von der damaligen Ministerin In 't Veld eröffnet.
Seit vielen Jahren ist Wolkenland das Schulaußenhaus des Amsterdams Lyceum. Wolkenland wird nun bereits seit 27 Jahren enthusiastisch von dem Verwalterripaar Jacqueline und Kees Veraart geleitet.
