Historia
En 1919, el artista Carl Garschagen de la ciudad alemana de Siegburg construyó una villa aquí. Prefería pintar la naturaleza y cielos nublados, y probablemente le dio el nombre. Después de él, la freule Brantsen, originaria de Rheden, residió allí. En 1931, el Wolkenland junto con la villa fue adquirido por el Lyceo de Ámsterdam, como casa de campo escolar. Doce hectáreas de bosque pasaron a la Casa Bergh. El edificio en la colina fue destruido por un incendio en 1932 y por la violencia de la guerra en 1944. En el difícil período de reconstrucción, Gunning logró nuevamente obtener permisos y fondos para construir el actual Wolkenland. Fue inaugurado oficialmente el 28 de junio de 1952 por el entonces ministro In 't Veld.
Durante muchos años, Wolkenland ha sido la casa de campo escolar del Lyceo de Ámsterdam. Wolkenland ha sido dirigido con entusiasmo durante 27 años por la pareja de administradores Jacqueline y Kees Veraart.
