Bei der Teilung des Landes zwischen dem Reich und den Erfgooiers im Jahr 1836 kamen große Parzellen in den Besitz von Privatpersonen. Die neuen Eigentümer pflanzten Bäume, da Holz eine höhere Rendite vom Boden lieferte. So entstanden viele Wälder im Gooi, darunter auch das Spanderswoud. Im Spanderswoud gibt es noch unregelmäßig verlaufende Wasserpartien, die durch das Abgraben von Sand entstanden sind.
