Ved opdelingen af jorden mellem Riget og Erfgooiers i 1836 kom store parceller i privateje. De nye ejere plantede træer, fordi træ gav bedre udbytte fra jorden. Således opstod mange skove i Gooi, herunder også Spanderswoud. I Spanderswoud findes stadig snoede vandpartier, skabt ved udgravning af sand.
