The Fort of Eben-Emael was built between the First and Second World Wars and was considered the strongest fort in the world. However, the German attackers managed to eliminate the fort in record time of fifteen minutes in WW II and after a day and a half siege the fort had to capitulate.
The Fort of Eben-Emael was used as a backdrop in the TV series "De Smaak van de Keyser". Alfred and George came here in 1939 after their mobilization until the Germans took the fort.
