In the past, Sint-Goriksplein was surrounded by the arms of the Zenne and thus formed Sint-Gorik Island, also known as Groot Eiland. The covered Sint-Gorik halls date back to 1874 and until the 1970s, a very popular market was held there.
Go left through the coach gate of the restaurant Ô Lion d'Or, a post relay from the 17th century. In the courtyard, you’ll discover a reconstruction of the former Zenne arm that separated the two islands (the river no longer flows there!).
Attention: there is currently no public access due to the sanitary situation.
