This monument commemorates the numerous victims of the First World War. 'Monumentality' is the right word to describe the enormous promenade leading to the equestrian statue of King Albert I and the high ring of columns surrounding it. This monument from 1938 is made of clay mined along the Yser.
You can reach the upper level by foot or by elevator to enjoy an impressive view of the Yser plain. Orientation tables indicate the interesting sites.
