Dieses Denkmal erinnert an die zahlreichen Opfer des Ersten Weltkriegs. 'Monumental' ist das richtige Wort, um die massive Promenade zum Reiterstandbild von König Albert I. und den hohen Säulenring darum zu beschreiben. Dieses Denkmal aus dem Jahr 1938 wurde aus Ton hergestellt, der entlang der IJzer abgebaut wurde.
Man kann zu Fuß oder mit dem Aufzug in die obere Etage fahren, um dort einen beeindruckenden Blick auf die IJzervlakte zu genießen. Orientierungstafeln zeigen die interessanten Orte an.
