More than 20 breweries rely on the Laboratory for Malting and Brewing of KU Leuven (Centre for Malting and Brewing Science) for regular quality control of their beer. In this lab, yeast strains are also cultivated and researched. There is also a backup of many yeasts from Belgian breweries.
