The very old village of Ocquier (600 inhabitants) is located on the plateau of the Condroz in the valley of the Néblon, a tributary of the Ourthe. In Chienrue, the street where fierce fighting occurred in 1653 against the French troops of Condé, stands the small Romanesque church of St. Remaclus. The tower, where the villagers hid in danger, dates from the 17th century, while the monks' courtyard is from the 11th century. The Castel de Val d'Or hotel, an old farm and changeover point for horses, was rebuilt after being destroyed by the French.
