The Sint-Gillisvoorplein is an absolute recommendation for a drink or a meal. It is designed by top landscape architect Bas Smets. Regarding his inspiration for this square, Bas Smets says the following. The lines come from the Piazza del Campo in Siena. When asked why there couldn't be too many trees standing in the square, his answer was: “to let the exceptional quality of the facades come into their own.”
