Overijse once had a rich beer tradition with numerous breweries. Not only in the Pajottenland, but here too lambic beers and gueuze were made! From 1952 to 1977, the famous Leffe was even brewed in Overijse by the Lootvoet brewery. Little of that remains today. In fact, more and more grape greenhouses appeared in Overijse (and the surrounding area), and Overijse gradually established itself as the mecca of table grapes and the center of the Grape Region.
