Overijse had vroeger een rijke biertraditie met tal van brouwerijen. Niet alleen in het Pajottenland, maar ook hier werden lambiekbieren en geuze gemaakt! Van 1952 tot 1977 werd in Overijse zelfs de bekende Leffe gebrouwen door brouwerij Lootvoet. Van dat alles is maar weinig overgebleven. Sterker nog: er kwamen in Overijse (en omstreken) steeds meer druivenserres en Overijse profileerde zich gaandeweg als het mekka van de tafeldruif en het centrum van de Druivenstreek.
