Ice forest

In the Ice Forest you will also find this poisonous plant with bright red-colored berries. Just a little too brightly colored to appear edible. And those berries aren't either, because they're poisonous. They are the berries of the spotted arum. The plant itself is poisonous when fresh and slightly poisonous when dried. In phytotherapy, the plant is used against hoarseness, persistent coughing and sore throat. Arum contains aroin, saponin, glycoside, lycopine, and calcium oxalate. In spring, you can see the arrow-shaped leaves that are dark green with black spots. They are sometimes confused with the leaves of wild garlic (which are edible) because of the same deep green color, although they have a completely different shape. As a result, they sometimes end up in a wild garlic salad. Also because wild garlic and arum often grow close to each other. The rhizome ends in a tuber with many lateral roots. The tubers of the plant contain a lot of starch and can be eaten cooked.
