Peerdsbos -- The Peerdsbos is the oldest known walking forest in the province of Antwerp. In 1935, the domain was leased to the City of Antwerp for a symbolic rent of 1 franc per year and for a duration of 99 years, under the condition that it must be opened to the public as a recreational area. The Laarse Beek flows through the forest with a significant drop (2.8 m over 2 kilometers) and some very beautiful meanders. The stream is what remained of the river 'Olme' after the Sint-Elisabeth flood, between 1376 and 1430, which, among other things, led to the formation of the Biesbosch in the Netherlands.
