The Hortiflora forms a striking zone with its own atmosphere within the Castle Parks. The outside is a fairly dense green belt that shields the clearing from the surroundings. This belt includes a wide variety of curious trees. Initially, the Hortiflora was set up as a demonstration garden with different types of garden atmospheres (rock garden, kitchen garden,...). In 1977, on the occasion of the Rubens Year, the garden was redesigned in historic Renaissance style. Since then, the garden has increasingly taken on an educational role. There are now more than 600 species and varieties of plants. In 2012, the Hortiflora was added to the sculpture park.
