In Antwerp's Hofstraat, near the Grote Markt, lies the house Den Rhyn. The 19th-century facades along the street do not suggest that behind them is a 16th-century building with an atmospheric inner courtyard. This building from 1485 was used for trading spices, among other things. This primarily took place outdoors. The building is considered a precursor to the stock exchange and is therefore of historical significance.
