The artwork is a man-sized bronze sculpture. It was realized on the basis of, among other things, photo material from the early 60s of the then champetter Petrus Ferbiest. "I visited the family of the last champetter. They still had the jacket of the original uniform for me and some old photos," says Christa Alaert.
The image was created by removing matter from a block. This requires the necessary study and sketching work in advance to get everything well positioned. At the end of July, the statue was finished and was taken to the bronze caster to be cast according to the lost-wax process.
