Adinkerke-De Panne Station

Number 7. "Station Adinkerke-De Panne," cf. inscription above the entrance. 1870: railway line Lichtervelde-Veurne extended to Adinkerke; first station of Adinkerke in use. Construction of the second station in 1913 by the brothers Follet (De Panne) designed by architect J. Viérin (Bruges) from 1907 (?). Impressive building of yellow brick on a natural stone base using Euville stone for upright sections, relieving arches, frames, plinths, cords, etc. Under hipped roofs (slate tiles) in a Norman-influenced style, cf. pseudo-timber framing. White-painted woodwork. Symmetrical structure: central, projecting entrance hall, accentuated by a central corbel-arched roof window under a hipped roof with wind boards and pseudo-timber framing; either linked round and corbel arch openings. Coat of arms (half-relief sculpture) with the inscription "Unity is Strength" on a ribbon above the door; laurel and inscription "Tempus fugit" at the top. Stone coat of arms on side walls. Somewhat more modestly designed side wings, as counterparts to the entrance hall; characteristic corbel-arched roof window under a hipped roof with pseudo-timber framing and wind boards cf. central section. Flanking bays equipped with rectangular two- and three-light windows under linked round arches in a profiled corbel-arched niche, resting on the mentioned base. Small grid division is common.
