The Park of Beervelde, located near Ghent, is in the heart of a region known for its horticulture. The cultivation of begonias and azaleas predominates here. The park, which spans more than 20ha, was designed and established in 1873 in the English landscape style. The intention of the commissioning party, the Counts of Kerchove de Denterghem, was for the park to serve as a showcase for the then-still-nascent Ghent horticulture.
