Le domaine du Parc de Beervelde, proche de Gand, se situe au cœur d'une région réputée pour son horticulture. La culture des bégonias et des azalées y domine. Le parc de plus de 20 ha a été conçu et aménagé en 1873 dans le style paysager anglais. L'intention des commanditaires, les Comtes de Kerchove de Denterghem, était de faire du parc une vitrine pour l'horticulture gantoise encore émergente à l'époque.
