It is here in the village of Miavoye that the famous Flemish poet Paul van Ostaijen spent his last days of life, sick by TB. He stayed here in the sanatorium 'Le Vallon'. He worked with Edgar du Perron and Gaston Burssens on the magazine 'Avontuur'. Van Ostaijen died lonely on 18 March 1928 as a result of his illness. He was initially buried in Miavoye-Anthée, but was reburied at the Schoonselhof in Antwerp at Burssens' insistence. On 8 November 1952 he was given his final resting place in the park of honour.
