This area is quite remarkable in the valley form of the Molenbeek. Here you have a wide alluvial valley floor tens of meters wide.
East of the wide alluvial valley floor of the Molenbeek, just past the confluence of the Laarbeek and the Molenbeek, you have a breakthrough alley. During heavy rainfall, a lot of water from the Molenbeek and the Laarbeek has to pass that narrower breakthrough valley, and here on that flat valley floor you often got floods and deposits of the stream: alluvium. These alluvial soils coincide nicely with the grassland, because that wet alluvium is too soggy to cultivate as arable land, although they are very fertile soils.
