Orbix Solutions is a pioneer in significantly reducing CO2 emissions in the construction industry. Worldwide, the cement industry is responsible for 7% of CO2 emissions. Here, they create building blocks based on metal slags (residues from metal extraction from ores). Additionally, CO2 is stored in the stones. About 10% of CO2 is permanently stored per weight of stone. Moreover, in making these stones, very little CO2 is produced compared to traditional cement. A natural process is mimicked, namely the production of marble. The process was developed by VITO.
