Opened in 1923, this cemetery contains the graves of 1,200 French soldiers who fell during the 1914 fighting.
The Assaut Monument (rear) by Alexandre Daoust depicts the recapture of the citadel by the French on August 15, 1914. More specifically, it is dedicated to Sergeant Major Bouchez , who captured the German flag that flies over the citadel.
