The Maria Königin monastery and grammar school is located near Altenhundem on the country road 715, which leads from Altenhundem to Bilstein. Located on a clear hill just before the turn-off to the Hohe Bracht, the bright building complex with the crucifix on the tower is visible from afar.
The monastery with attached grammar school was an institution of the German Province of the Missionaries of the Holy Family. Its history began in 1920 in Adolfsburg Castle in Oberhundem with the founding of the first mission school. This was later relocated to Altenhundem and abandoned in 1962 as part of a changed school concept.
