Gut Rothensiek is located in Leopoldstal, a district of the town of Horn-Bad Meinberg, not far from Detmold and Paderborn in the Teutoburg Forest. The gatehouse of the estate from 1687 is a listed building.
In 1481, Hermann Trumpe, a trained miller and servant of Count Bernhard VII of Lippe, received the the lands around today's Rothensiek estate as a fiefdom. In the files, an Ilseke Trumpe was mentioned in his service as "Maid and Bislepersche", who had at least 11 illegitimate children with the count. If this was the sister of Hermann Trumpe at Rodensiek, this explains the benevolence of his former master.
