The Warndt pit was a coal mine located near the district of Karlsbrunn in Großrosseln, established by the Saarbergwerke AG. It was the youngest mine in the Saar region.
The mine is situated in the midst of Warndt on the L276 between the districts of Karlsbrunn and Dorf im Warndt in the municipality of Großrosseln. Here lie the seams of the Merlebacher saddle in the Saar coal basin and the Lorraine coal basin. The Warndt mine had recoverable coal reserves of about 190 million tons, estimated up to a depth of −1100 meters NN. The thickness of the seams varied between one and six meters.
