The gravel and bathing lake Birkwitz is a former gravel pit lake located between Pillnitz and Pirna in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains.
It is about 20 kilometers from Dresden and is situated between the Pirna districts of Birkwitz in the northwest and Pratzschwitz in the southwest. The lake is approximately 900 meters long and 950 meters wide. There are two small islands in it. The western part is used as a bathing lake and is private property. The operator and owner is a civil law partnership. A beach festival takes place every July.
