42.83 km02:50 h333 hm118 m37 mVery easyDownload tour information: On this circular tour of around 43 km from and back to Ebstorf, you are right in the middle of nature. Old fruit trees, extensive forest, birds from cranes to stock doves, buzzing bees on traditional orchards - it can hardly get more idyllic. Along the way, cultural highlights such as the Ebstorf Monastery with a world map, an old mill, or a over 1000-year-old fieldstone church are waiting for you. From the town of Ebstorf, you cycle northwest to Hanstedt I. At the entrance to the village stands a former oil and grain mill, which has been in operation since 1368 - with a few short breaks until 1981. The entire mill technology has been preserved to this day. In the middle of Hanstedt, it is worth taking a look at and inside the fieldstone church from 980, one of the oldest fieldstone churches in Northern Germany. During the summer months, the church door is open to visitors who should not miss the gold-adorned altarpiece, the illustrated windows, and the elaborately carved pulpit. From Hanstedt I, the cycle path leads through the "Süsing", a wide forest area with pines, spruces, beeches, and oaks. Only a few roads lead through the forest, so it often appears untouched. The Süsing is rich in wildlife and home to cranes, tawny owls, stock doves, and black storks. The quality of the paths in the Süsing may be restricted depending on the weather. The way out of the Süsing leads to Velgen and further to Addenstorf. In the small heath area near Addenstorf, a Bronze Age burial mound field (around 1500 BC) with 45 burial mounds has been preserved. In the next village, Seedorf, the village community center was originally built as a primary school in 1879. Today it is a school museum. Open on request, Tel. 05821-7310. Heading south, you continue to Barum - home to Hof Ellenberg. The colorful and old potato varieties from Karsten Ellenberg are well known far beyond the region. Here you can get red, blue, and purple potatoes that taste completely different from those in the supermarket. They are then called "Blauer Schwede", "Bamberger Hörnchen", or "Heiderot". From Barum, a detour to Tätendorf-Eppensen to the fruit barn is worthwhile. Here you will be spoiled with regional delicacies such as freshly baked cake and sweet apple juice from their own harvest. You cycle back to Ebstorf through picturesque villages. Here you can discover the historical pharmacy museum in the town center and the Ebstorf Heath Monastery with its sacred art treasures and the faithful replica of the Ebstorf World Map from the 13th century. If you need refreshment after this impressive tour, the Ebstorf outdoor pool "Wald@mar" is recommended.
