According to the census, a family named Doblas lived here for centuries, who were very renowned silversmiths .
In this square was a beaterio founded by Beatriz de Córdoba, that of Nuestra Señora de la Piedad , which was dissolved at an undetermined date.
The fountain in the Plaza de las Doblas dates from 1944 and was designed by the architect Víctor Escribano Ucelay.
It consists of a trough of Sierra Elvira stone , with a curved section and a low height (35 cm) that allows the water, which flows from a central fountain, to overflow into the surrounding trough. The surrounding pavement is in Cordovan Chinese style, with plants occupying the earthy openings, giving the whole a discreet private atmosphere.
