The tower is distinguished from its contemporaries by its trapezoidal plan and spiral staircase set within a turret. Apart from these features, its architecture is typical of the master towers of the Midi region, built between the 12th and 14th centuries. Primarily a symbol of comtal and then royal power, the tower may also have played a defensive role, and served as a temporary dwelling during times of crisis. The tower now houses several exhibitions: one room is dedicated to Nino Ferrer, another to temporary exhibitions, and on the two upper floors, the permanent exhibition "Montcuq in the Middle Ages". Enjoy the panoramic view from the roof terrace.
