The Holy Cross Square is the highest point of the city (189 m). The square is lined with several Gothic houses built from the 13th to the 15th century. On this square is the Hôtel de la Bulette (14th century), whose name refers to the right to collect certain taxes on land ownership, and which still has two corbelled watchtowers and battlements. Converted into a prison in the 16th century, into a Girls' Teacher Training College in the 19th century, it was later converted into a maternity hospital.
